FASHION BALTIMORE: THE FALL LOOK - FEELING FEMININE

This fall, expect "a very All-American ´50s trend," says Cloud 9 Clothing´s Priya Rayadurg. "I love that it's really pretty and ladylike," as in this Lulu Mari dress, $63 at Cloud 9.

Cardigans, especially the flowy kind, are back in a big way, as is just about any kind of knit. This Tulle grandpa sweater, $63 at Cloud 9, fits the bill.

Look for jewelry that combines traditional components with textiles. Here, a felt and rubber necklace by Barbara de Jounge, $ 115 at Upstairs on 7th, is worn as a bracelet. And hats, like this mulberry cloche from Target, $14.99, are a fun finishing touch.

Perhaps as a reflection of our recession mentality, fall fashion is all about touches of this or that, not an all-over look. "[It's] a military jacket with a full skirt, [taking] bits and pieces and putting them together, rather than looking like a fashion victim in military from head to toe," explains Priya Rayadurg, co-owner of the Cloud 9 Clothing chain in Maryland. One of the easiest ways to stay au courant without losing too much currency is by mixing and layering colors, textures and materials.
